Elevation: Start/Finish Line 335 metres above sea level.
Lowest: 320 m Highest 345.
13 km of route in Scenic Rural setting.

The Marathon course is  CERTIFIED by the Ontario Track and Field Association and is a
Boston Marathon Qualifier.

Race Date: Sunday April 27, 2008

Race Time: All Races start at 8:00 am

NEW:  Route Reversed - Running towards traffic. Flat and downhill for the first 6 km - then a rolling, scenic, country-side run for 13km.

FULL MARATHON : 2 loops of the course plus a short loop on Country Squire Road

HALF MARATHON: 1 loop of the course.

MARATHON RELAY: 2 loops of the course. 5 person teams with hand-over points at 8k, 16k, 24k and 32k. Relay teams to meet no later than 7:00am at the Registration Desk.

5 KM RACE: 1 loop of a FLAT & FAST 5 km course.

  • FREE parking
  • Scenic route in Mennonite Country
  • Massive indoor facility to warm up in
  • Massive amounts of Changing/Showering facilities
  • The Start and Finish Lines will have a framed structure around them
  • Road checked and cleared of debris prior to the race
  • Not far off the 401 and less than one hour drive from Toronto Airport
  • The half marathon split will be called
  • A 1 mile marker will be used
  • 7 Water Stations including start/finish per loop
  • Accelerade will be available at all 7 Water Stations and at end of the run
  • First aid, change facilities and showers
  • Water stations every 3 km
  • Different coloured bibs to identify which race you are in
  • Portable toilets on course
  • Increased number of signs and cones on the route
  • Photographer at the Finish Line and the pictures will be available on the web site
  • 5 person teams with Hand-Over Points at: 8 km, 16 km, 24 km and 32 km
  • Runners receive a clay Medallion, post-race refreshments, T-shirt and a massage
  • Volunteers and Therapy Dogs to welcome you
  • Scottish Pipers throughout the course
  • Walkers welcome!
  • ChampionChip Timing Technology is included in the Entry Fee

(*note - police coverage ends after 5 hours, but course will remain open until everyone finishes)

The start line is on the road leading to the main entrance of the building - Northeast of RIM Park Recreation Complex in Waterloo.

Directions to RIM Park -

FROM LONDON:

  • Take the 401 East to Highway 8 Kitchener/Waterloo (Exit 278B)
  • Exit at Highway 85 (formerly 86) North Waterloo
  • Exit at University Avenue East
  • Drive straight, past Piller’s for approximately 5 minutes
  • RIM Park is on the right hand side at 2001 University Avenue
  • The entrance to the parking lot is just before the complex
  • If you get to the stop sign at Northfield Drive, you have gone too far

FROM TORONTO:

  • Take the 401 West to highway 7/8 Kitchener-Waterloo
  • Exit at  Highway 85 (formerly 86) North Waterloo
  • Exit at University Avenue East
  • Drive straight, past Bridge street, past Piller’s for approximately 5 minutes
  • RIM Park is on the right hand side at 2001 University Avenue
  • The entrance to the parking lot is just before the complex
  • If you get to the stop sign at Northfield Drive, you have gone too far

FROM KITCHENER:

  • Take the Conestoga Parkway 85 (formerly 86) North Direction
  • Take the University East Exit
  • Drive straight, past Bridge street, past Piller’s for approximately 5 minutes
  • RIM Park is on the right hand side at 2001 University Ave.
  • The entrance to the parking lot is just before the complex
  • If you get to the stop sign at Northfield Drive, you have gone too far

FROM WATERLOO:

  • From Northfield Drive, follow Northfield Drive to University Avenue
  • Turn right onto University Ave
  • RIM Park is on the left side

Award Categories

Marathon: A $500 prize will be awarded to the male and female with the top run time overall. In addition, prizes will be given to the top three finishing times in each of these age categories, male and female: 20 & Under / 21-29 / 30-39 / 40-49 / 50-59 / 60 & Over.

Half Marathon: Prizes will be given to the top three finishing times in each of these age categories, male and female: 20 & Under / 21-29 / 30-39 / 40-49 / 50-59 / 60 & Over.

* Winners of the $500 prizes are not eligible for prizes in individual categories.

Results & Awards Ceremony

Awards will be presented at RIM Park Recreation Complex following the race. Results will be available on race day online at Sportstats, and Our Web Site
